Baby Bath Tubs To Make Bath Time Fun And Easy
Taking a bath is important for helping your baby feel refreshed and comfortable after a long day. Apart from keeping your little one clean, did you know that bath time can also contribute to your baby’s development? The splashing of the water, bubbly soap suds, and other sensations all help with their sensory growth and stimulation.
As they grow older, bath time also gives you the opportunity to introduce them to essential self-care and personal hygiene tasks. Plus mum and dad can spend some quality time together with bub as part of a regular nighttime or bedtime routine!
Your bathtime journey starts right here by having your very own infant bath tub for baby. Ensure your little one is safe and comfortable with a bathtub that’s just right for them, as well as all the baby bath accessories and baby toiletries you need to make bath time a breeze.

If you’re wondering what to look out for when buying a bath tub for your baby, worry no more. We’ve got you covered!
- Size: The size of the tub should allow your baby to sit comfortably in it. Bath tubs for infants might be sized a little smaller, but there are also larger options such as the Stokke Bath Tub Flexi Bath V2 that are suitable for newborns up to 4 years old.
- Material: Baby bath tubs can come in a variety of materials, with plastic being a popular choice for its lightweight versatility. Plastic tubs are also easy to clean and highly durable, and last through the years so your child’s younger siblings can use them too!
- Design features: Many baby bath tubs come with features aimed at ensuring your baby’s safety, such as lower sides to prevent the water level from being too high, or rounded edges to prevent cuts.
- Ergonomic support: Another common feature that makes bath time easy for both you and bubs are ergonomic or back supports that allow babies to enjoy bath time even if they can’t sit up on their own yet. Our Mothercare Bath Tub Sleepy Safari comes with such a support, and even has its own plug for easy drainage and water level control. You can also buy a baby bath seat such as the Mothercare Bath Support Ergo for infant ergonomic support in any type of bathtub.

Frequently Asked Questions About Baby Bath Tubs
1. At what age can a baby use a bath tub?
Many infant or baby bath tubs are designed to be safe for newborns and young children, with features such as sloped surfaces or seats to support the baby throughout their bath. Once your baby reaches 6 to 8 months and is able to sit up by themselves, you can transition into using a regular bathtub for bath time, while still providing constant adult supervision.
2. How long can a newborn go without a bath?
The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends delaying your baby’s first bath till at least 24 hours after their birth, although some parents may choose to delay the first bath till after the first 2 weeks. Newborns can be given a gentle sponge bath 1 to 2 times a week until their umbilical cord falls off, after which you can move on to a dedicated baby bath tub.
Infants can continue to receive just 1 to 2 baths per week up until the period of 3 to 6 months, where you can increase the frequency to suit you and your baby’s needs. After 6 months or when your baby starts weaning and eventually walking, you may have to bathe them more often to keep them neat and tidy.
3. What should you never do when bathing a baby?
There are several safety rules to take into account when bathing your baby, including:
- Fill the bath with cold water first then gradually add warm water to reach a suitable temperature
- Always regulate the temperature to ensure it does not scald or burn your baby’s sensitive skin
- Test the water temperature using your wrist or elbow before putting your baby in
- Use only baby toiletries that are safe for infants and young children
- Never leave the water running when your child is in the bathtub
- Never leave children unattended or unsupervised in the bath tub or bathroom at any time
